IT Auditing

Perhaps your infrastructure was setup by an outside organization that is no longer available, or it was setup by a few in-house people that lacked broad industry experience, or you are experiencing frequent problems that lead you to believe your environment could use some updating. Whatever the issues are that put doubt in your mind about the stability and resiliency of your infrastructure, they can be resolved by having Spring Lake Consulting perform an audit of your current IT infrastructure. Our professionals will go to your site(s) and look at all aspects of your technology including, but not limited to:

  • Network architecture and failover
  • Replication and redundancy
  • Virtualization setup
  • Storage setup (SAN and NAS)
  • Application inventory and performance assessment
  • Exchange setup
  • Remote Access
  • Models and specs of servers and desktops (OS, number and speed of CPU’s, memory, disk capacity, RAID levels, etc.)
  • Backups

This inventory and assessment is done with the goal of ensuring industry best practices are adhered to as well as making suggestions as to how to improve the existing architecture. This is done via our own inspection of the hardware as well as interviews conducted with key personnel to get the users perspective of how things are running. IT departments forget that technology is meant to enable the users to be more productive and generate more profits for the company. Sometimes the “dream architecture” the IT department designed doesn’t meet the practical needs of the business users. This becomes apparent during the course of the interviews as the user community is either frustrated or pleased with the services they are provided. At the end of the audit, the client is provided with a detailed description of the environment, an overall assessment of suitability, a list of what doesn’t meet best practices or should be re-architected, and suggestions for enhancements to improve performance or usability.
