This inventory and assessment is done with the goal of ensuring industry best practices are adhered to as well as making suggestions as to how to improve the existing architecture. This is done via our own inspection of the hardware as well as interviews conducted with key personnel to get the users perspective of how things are running. IT departments forget that technology is meant to enable the users to be more productive and generate more profits for the company. Sometimes the “dream architecture” the IT department designed doesn’t meet the practical needs of the business users.
